From what the latest news says, they have distributed 3 million copies in the world and would have to keep that rhythm in the next few months to reach that goal. The sales have been similar to MGS 4 but that game cost quite a bit less to make and was released only on the playStation 3.
The cost to make the game is estimated at around 80 million dollars, a some what normal amount for today’s video game super productions, but is believed to be one of the reasons of the Konami & Kojima fallout.
Konami have also announced they will be stopping AAA productions except for Pro Evolution Soccer and focusing on mobile games leading to there worldwide technology director Julien Merceron to leave the company.
It’s been a rough year for Konami but lets hope Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain sells well and they see light at the end of the tunnel and resume there fantastic creation of AAA titles for years to come.
